Policy Statement #3
Permitted Transactions for ATC Residents and Staff
Preamble:
1. It is recognized that the handling of livestock and
the riding of horses has some inherent risks to people, horses and the physical
plant. Associated with these physical
risks are potential risks with respect to liability. The purpose of this policy
is to ensure that residents and staff using the ATC facilities for equine
related activities outside the employ of ATC do not unjustifiably transfer the
risks associated with their activities to ATC or its owners.
2. It is favorably recognized that employees and
residents of ATC, in addition to their vocational equine interests, may have
personal interests in equine activities.
3. There is a risk that residents and staff who engage in
equine activities outside of their regular duties may cause misunderstandings
with clients which, in turn, could besmirch or impair the reputation of ATC,
its owners, or other employees of ATC.
4. With respect to the policies contained herein, no
distinction is made between staff and residents.
5. Being a resident or employee of ATC does not come with
an inherent right to keep or board horses on the premises. Such privileges may or may not come as a
specific part of a remuneration package or by some other contract arranged with
ATC management.
